Danyelle – “surprise” maternity portraits — New Brighton, PA

The other day, I was texting with one of my best friends from high school, Mart, who just happens to be a successful photographer (martiaikenphotography.com), and she asked if I’d like to surprise one of our best friends, Danyelle, at her maternity session by just showing up unannounced to second shoot. I thought it was a great idea!

So this morning at 9 am I crept up the hillside behind the location where Mart and Dan were already busy workin’ it out. Mart left her telephoto lens in her car so I could strap it on and get Dan’s reaction as she saw me appear. Priceless! It’s always so much fun to hang with my girlfriends from high school…really makes me wish I lived closer to home. And not only getting to shoot with one, but to be actually shooting one, double-awesome. Dan made a comment during that shoot that it was kinda ironic how when we were kids, Mart and I were always the ones stealing our parent’s VHS camcorders and making silly videos, and now we’re both out doing the photography thing. Telling stories in pictures…whether still or in motion…is just something that has always been inside Mart and I, and I am so thankful that we both have the opportunity to share our gifts with others. And having others actually hire us for that gift is pretty awesome, too. Wow, that was a little more sentimental than I usually get. Sorry!:) Please enjoy these pictures of the lovely Danyelle and her soon-to-be baby boy: “Bosepheus” Just kidding! She’s not sharing the name, but we do know it begins with B, so my other best friends from high school (I’m name dropping a lot of “best friends” in this one, huh?) Debo, Kim, and JoHannah picked Bosepheus as his name. haha Dan will probably not like the fact that I even mentioned the name Bosepheus, but it seriously makes me crack up every time i hear it!:) Love and miss all you girls like CRAZY!

I couldn’t decide between the last two! I loved her hair slightly blowing in the wind in the serious face, but the smile is really nice, too! You look so great Dan! Can’t wait to meet your sweet baby boy!
