It was a sunny and crisp January afternoon, and 2019 was only a few days old. This was the day my cousin Brenda would marry the love of her life, Bogdan. They held their wedding reception at Heinz Chapel on the University of Pittsburgh campus, an absolutely stunning and quintessential Pittsburgh wedding ceremony venue. I met up with the couple before the ceremony at the Cathedral of Learning, which is right across the courtyard to the chapel, to grab a few portraits in the main area–which was still decorated for the holidays–and in the Romanian Room. Bogdan is a college professor and is also from Romania, so the classroom setup with the nod to his heritage seemed like a fun location to capture. The sunlight was pouring in the windows, a welcome sight in what is usually such a cavernous building.
Brenda’s classic long sleeve lace gown in antique white with a long satin skirt couldn’t have been more perfect for her. She looked so gorgeous, I seriously wanted to cry. Her blue shoes were a fun surprise and reminded me of Carrie Bradshaw’s Manolo Blahnik wedding shoes. She carried a bouquet of red, pink, and white flowers that were the perfect pop of color. The reception was emotional as they each read personal vows to one another. After the ceremony, the crowd gathered outside to greet the newlyweds before heading off to a small dinner reception at Acorn in Shadyside.
It was such a fun day for our family! I can’t believe it’s been 3 years already! Here are some of my favorite images from the day.
