Chelsea + Andrew, Seven Oaks Country Club Wedding

Sometimes, when you swipe right, you meet someone special. In Chelsea and Andrew’s case, swiping right on Tinder brought them together. And Andrew’s “Elf” reference on their first date sealed the deal for Christmas-obsessed Chelsea.

Andrew had been a groomsman in a wedding I photographed a few years ago (before Chelsea). Chelsea had seen the pictures and loved everything about the wedding: the venue and the photographer especially, so when Andrew popped the question, I was one of the first calls! So awesome and very flattering!

The wedding was the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend and it was a hot one! Upper 80’s and 100% humidity made being outdoors less than comfortable, but we all put on our game faces and made the magic happen!

Chelsea and her girls got ready at the MOH’s house and Andrew and his men dressed in the church nursery. The ceremony took place at Four Mile Church in Brighton, Township, which is a great location if your reception is at Seven Oaks Country Club, just a short 5 minute drive away. Even better: on this 5-minute drive is an absolutely stunning replica church that gets perfect light…the perfect place for portraits.

The reception was full of fun, fireman, and frisky unicorns (I’m not sure either, but it made for some hilarious pictures!). Thank you so much, Andrew and Chelsea, for allowing Diana and I to be a part of your special day!

Allyson + Peter, Heinz History Center

Who needs a bunch of time to plan a wedding? Not Allyson and Peter! Their Pittsburgh wedding at the Heinz History Center was less than 6 months in the making and pretty darn perfect if you ask me!

Allyson and Peter had their ceremony at the All Saints Church in Etna, which is one of the most beautiful churches in Pittsburgh! The brickwork on the exterior, the high ceilings with the painted designs on the wooden trusses in the sanctuary, and the sparkling alter mosaic…it was just beautiful.

Looking back on the pictures, you really can’t tell that it was raining cats and dogs most of the day. After shooting formals at the church, we drove to the Convention Center for more pictures…but other bridal parties had the same rain plan, so we got started above the typical location where it was still covered. I love how the white glass reflected the shape of trees and the sister bridges and allowed the royal blue bridesmaids dresses to really pop.

The reception at the Heinz History Center was also beautiful. The ballroom had a gorgeous city view that changed from day to night offering two different moods to transition from dinner to dancing.

Best wishes to Allyson and Peter!

Ian + Erica, State College Backyard Wedding

Confession: when Erica told me her wedding would be in her parents’ backyard, I was skeptical. But when I arrived and saw the magical, lush garden behind the beautifully restored 1800’s farmhouse in Boalsburg, PA minutes outside of State College, I was blown away. Like, WOW! A stream runs through the backyard and Erica’s friends and family built a special deck overlooking the stream where she and Ian would exchange vows. The ceremony happened on one side of the stream and the party happened across the stream, as if to signify that all the guests crossed the bridge together to celebrate the next chapter in Erica and Ian’s life. And what a celebration it was! These two Phish fans know how to throw a party for guests of all ages! Congratulations, Ian and Erica!

Alexis + Sam — Barn Wedding, Indiana, PA

“Barn wedding” doesn’t really do this venue justice, but I try to keep the titles short. The barn that Alexis and Sam were married in is over 100 years old, on her family’s farm, and was recently restored to the beautiful site that it is now. Alexis’s whole family and many friends helped with the restoration, making it that much more special.

Coincidently, my husband was one of the subcontractors who helped with the restoration. He had mentioned this project to me and said that the barn was being restored for a wedding…and that he would drop my name to Alexis as a possible photographer. Well, Alexis is much more organized and quick-moving than my sweet husband, so she actually reached out to me before Forrest had a chance to talk to her without knowing the connection. It was meant to be!:)

For such a special venue, I wanted to make sure extra special pictures were taken, so I hired RS Aerial Photography to shoot aerial photographs with a drone during the evening. He got some amazingly gorgeous views of the barn.

Congratulations to Alexis and Sam!

Bethany + Nate, Springwood Conference Center

Bethany and Nate’s October wedding at the Springwood Conference Center in Verona felt more like a summer wedding than a fall wedding. Our dependable Western PA weather (i.e. rain) just couldn’t stay away, but once again, I say “thank you” because as soon as the rain cleared, an absolutely beautiful glow covered the stately grounds at Springwood and made my job very easy! All the trees were so rich and green and the stone looked shiny and the whole place just looked like a beautiful summer day. And to top it off, RAINBOW! Checking that one off the photographer bucket list!

I loved the navy accent colors Bethany incorporated into the reception decorations. The bridesmaids wore tea length navy dresses, which matched the gray suits the groomsmen sported. What a beautiful wedding! Congratulations, Bethany and Nate!

Bree + Wade, Lake Raystown Resort Wedding

Bree and Wade know how to host a party! They were married at Lake Raystown Resort and had an entire weekend of parties and fun planned for their guests. I know I had a great time! I met these two crazy kids nearly two years ago at their engagement session – Bree loves the camera and it loves her more, so we had an awesome time that extremely cold January afternoon. Rain threatened on their big day, but held off and the mixed weather cast a beautiful soft glow on the ceremony and down by the docks where we did the portraits. The party was non-stop…their very large bridal party was so fun and never stopped. They are truly blessed to be surrounded with so many wonderful friends and family members – everyone I came in contact with was so sweet and treated my second shooter Steph and I like we were part of the inner circle. Thanks for an amazing weekend, Bree and Wade! Best wishes!

Tyler + Emily, Seven Oaks Country Club

Tyler and Emily were married in July on the hottest day of the year so far. Seriously — it was over 100 degrees and 100% humidity on their wedding day. Not typical for western PA weather!! Very uncomfortable…and I wasn’t even the one wearing a suit or heavy gown! They were married in Emily’s church, Four Mile Church in Brighton Township and had their reception at the Seven Oaks Country Club, which was right down the road. Luckily, the church and the reception venue had amazing AC so we really limited our time outside to less than 5 minutes. Even then, I forced them to sweat on each other for the sake of a photo…it turned out great.:) Congratulations, Tyler and Emily!

Brittney + Rocco, Camp Kon O Kwee Wedding

Rain was a big part of Brittney and Rocco’s wedding day, and not just a little shower here and there, we had Luckily, the ceremony and the reception were always going to be indoors, so we just had to get creative for the portraits. Each bridesmaid had a different bright colored dress with a matching hand-made bouquet to match…and because of the rain, Brittney also included a matching umbrella for each girl. The colors really popped on the very green and brown rustic backdrop we had. The reception was held inside the main lodge and was a ton of fun! Everyone danced all night long and ended the night with a lantern send off. Rain: 0, Brittney and Rocco: 1. Thank you so much for allowing Allison and I to be a part of your special day!

Are those lanterns making an “S” for the new last name of our bride and groom?? I think they are! Best wishes, Brittney and Rocco!

Heidi + Brandon — Mansion at Linden Hall Wedding

After my fair share of rustic weddings this summer, I was blown away with the amazing venue that is Mansion at Linden Hall! I seriously couldn’t ask for a better backdrop to a wedding!

The Mansion has so many opportunities for details and beautiful light, I was in heaven! Even though the rain and cold moved their ceremony from the garden inside, Heidi’s grand entrance on the grand staircase completely made up for that! We took portraits outside on the grounds surrounding the Mansion, as well as a few places inside as well. The reception was held in a tent just off the hotel at the bottom of the hill and it was one rockin’ party! Best wishes to Heidi and Brandon!

Anthony + Katlyn — For All Family Farms Wedding — Butler, PA

Can I just say how lucky I am to have such amazing clients?! Anthony and Katlyn are sweet, funny, laid back, and just so much fun! I loved getting to know these two and capture their beautiful day at For All Family Farms in Butler, PA.

Bonus about having your wedding at For All Family Farms: they do most of the decorating for you! So many rustic details, it was an absolute dream to photograph – even with a little rain!
